Beautiful.ai vs Decktopus: Unlimited or Metered

One of these two pricing pages sells AI slide generation with no meter at all, and the other meters it in credits but cannot keep the per slide rate consistent across its own page. Beautiful.ai lists Pro at $14.50 a month billed annually with unlimited AI generation. Decktopus lists 750 credits a month and three incompatible slide rates. Both pages read October 15, 2026.

Beautiful.ai vs Decktopus: Unlimited or Metered

AI presentation tools split into two billing camps, and these two sit one on each side. Beautiful.ai sells "Unlimited AI content generation" on every paid tier, so the only numbers that matter are seats and workspace limits. Decktopus meters generation in credits, listing 750 a month on Pro. The problem is that Decktopus states the credit cost of a slide three different ways on one page, and the answers do not reconcile. Both official pricing pages read October 15, 2026.

Beautiful.ai does not meter AI generation at all

Beautiful.ai's Pro card lists "$14.50 /mo" with "Billed annually" and leads its feature list with "Unlimited AI content generation." There is no credit count, no monthly cap and no per slide rate anywhere on the page.

The AI features named under that heading are "AI image generation," "AI writing assistant," "AI language translation" and the ability to "Include extra context from files or links." None carries a usage figure.

A one off monthly option exists at "$45," reading "Everything in Pro plan (billed monthly)" and labelled "For ad hoc projects." Unmetered generation is unusual here, as how to read an AI credit pricing page sets out.

Where Beautiful.ai does meter, it meters the workspace. The comparison table caps the Team plan at 5 themes, 10 presentation templates, 50 library slides and 100 assets, all unlimited only on Enterprise.

The Beautiful.ai team price is printed two incompatible ways

The Teams card shows "$50" struck through beside "$40" and then "/MO (INCLUDES 3 USERS)," with the supporting bullet "Fixed pricing for up to three users." Read that way, three people cost $40 a month.

The paragraph higher on the same page says something else: "Teams of 2 to 20 pay $40 per user per month billed annually, or $50 billed monthly." Read that way, three people cost $120 a month.

The page's own meta description repeats the per user reading. We are not picking a side: both strings were live on October 15, 2026, so confirm the team total at checkout before authorising an annual term.

Decktopus is cheaper on paper and metered in credits

Decktopus Pro lists "$24.99" struck through against "$9.99 /mo" with "billed $119.88/year" and a "Save $180/yr" badge. A three month option lists "$19.99 /mo" at "billed $59.97/3 months."

That annual rate undercuts Beautiful.ai Pro by $4.51 a month, or about $54 a year by editorial calculation. The trade is that Decktopus counts what the model does and Beautiful.ai does not.

The Pro card states "750 AI credits / month (~150 slides)." The comparison table restates it as "750 / mo" for Pro and "1000 / mo" for Business, whose prices appear only after the Business tab is selected.

  • Beautiful.ai Pro: $14.50 a month billed annually, 1 member, unlimited AI content generation, over 300 Smart Slide layouts, PowerPoint import and export, 14 day free trial.
  • Beautiful.ai monthly option: $45, everything in Pro, billed monthly, marketed for ad hoc projects rather than ongoing work.
  • Beautiful.ai Teams: $40 a month annually or $50 monthly, members listed as 2 to 20, live collaborative editing, version control, engagement analytics, 100+ languages.
  • Decktopus Pro: $9.99 a month billed $119.88 a year, or $24.99 monthly, 750 AI credits a month, PDF, PPT and PNG export, version history, Loop rehearsal mode.
  • Decktopus Business: 1,000 AI credits per seat a month plus shared workspace, Brand Kit, custom domain and priority support; the page's structured data lists $19.99 per seat a month on annual billing and $44.99 on monthly.

Decktopus gives three different answers for one slide

The plan card says 750 credits is about 150 slides, which works out to 5 credits a slide. The page's structured data agrees on the rate, stating "Each slide costs 5 credits to generate and each AI edit costs 5 credits."

The same structured data sentence then contradicts itself. It says 750 credits is "enough for roughly 150 AI edits or 50 new slides," and 50 slides from 750 credits is 15 a slide, not 5.

The interactive estimator on the page takes the second view. At six presentations a month it shows roughly 60 slides and advises that you will need about 900 AI credits, which is 15 credits a slide by editorial calculation.

So two of the three statements point to 15 credits a slide and one points to 5. The practical gap is large: Pro is either 150 slides a month or 50, which decides whether Pro or Business fits a working deck habit.

This is the same failure mode in reverse. On the pages behind how AI credits work at Jasper, Copy.ai, Synthesia and Pictory the rate was missing; here it is printed three times and does not agree.

Top up credits cost roughly nine times the subscription rate

The visible page promises only that "Paid plans can top up credits anytime" and that "Packs never expire and stack on top of your monthly credits." No pack price appears in the visible text.

The page's structured data carries the rate: "one-time credit packages starting at $4.99 for 40 credits." That is about $0.125 a credit by editorial calculation.

Inside the annual subscription the rate is about $0.0133 a credit, from $119.88 for 9,000 credits a year. The top up channel therefore costs roughly nine times as much as the plan it supplements.

A plan that routinely overruns its allowance is almost always better served by the next tier up than by packs, as the audio tools showed in ElevenLabs and Descript and the clip tools in Captions and InVideo.

Other numbers on the Decktopus page also disagree

Social proof is stated twice and differently: one block reads "4M+ Users worldwide" while a later call to action reads "Join 5M+ presenters." The visible rating is "4.8/5" against 4.3 from 72 reviews in the page's structured data.

Decktopus does publish two things worth credit. It states that "Your data is excluded from AI training by default," and it offers students 50 percent off all plans with a code shown on the page.

Which one fits which buyer

The decision is not really about price, because the two annual rates are within $5 a month of each other. It is about whether you want a meter at all, a split we also saw in Otter and Fathom.

  • Choose Beautiful.ai Pro if you generate slides daily and refuse to track a balance, since AI generation carries no stated cap on any paid tier.
  • Choose Beautiful.ai Teams if you need live co-editing, locked slides and viewer analytics, and confirm at checkout whether $40 covers three users or one.
  • Choose Decktopus Pro if your output is a few decks a month, you want the lowest annual price, and the rehearsal mode is worth something to you.
  • Choose Decktopus Business if you need a shared workspace and expect to exceed 750 credits, because top up packs cost roughly nine times the subscription rate.
  • Skip both if slide volume is unpredictable, because one page meters a unit it defines inconsistently and the other sells unlimited generation without publishing a fair use limit.

Trials cover part of the risk: Beautiful.ai offers "a 14-day free trial of Pro or Team" and Decktopus allows cancellation any time. The cheap tier is still shaped to be sampled, as in Grammarly and Claude.

Frequently asked questions

Does Beautiful.ai limit how many AI slides you can make?

Not on the pricing page. Every paid tier leads with "Unlimited AI content generation" and no credit count, cap or per slide rate appears anywhere on the page as of October 15, 2026.

How many slides do 750 Decktopus credits make?

The page gives two answers. The plan card says about 150 slides, which is 5 credits each, while its structured data and its own estimator point to 50 slides, which is 15 credits each.

Which is cheaper for one person?

Decktopus Pro at $9.99 a month billed $119.88 a year, against Beautiful.ai Pro at $14.50 a month billed annually. The gap is about $54 a year by editorial calculation.

Does $40 cover three users on Beautiful.ai Teams?

The Teams card says it includes three users, but a paragraph on the same page says $40 is per user per month. For a three person team that is $40 against $120, so confirm at checkout.

Can you buy extra Decktopus credits?

Yes. The page's structured data lists packs from $4.99 for 40 credits that never expire and stack on the monthly allowance. That is roughly nine times the annual subscription rate per credit.

Is there a monthly plan without an annual commitment?

Both offer one. Beautiful.ai lists $45 a month for everything in Pro, marketed for ad hoc projects. Decktopus lists $24.99 a month, or $19.99 a month on a three month term.

Bottom line

Beautiful.ai is the simpler purchase because there is no unit to understand, and its one real flaw is that the team price is printed two ways that differ threefold.

Decktopus is cheaper and more capable on paper, but it cannot tell you how many slides your plan buys. Until that rate is stated once and consistently, treat the 750 figure as a range, not a budget. All figures as of October 15, 2026.
